Office Guide

Be Proactively Professional! - Our Culture -

Keep understanding the other side.

We always start our job by trying to fully understand what our clients are thinking and what their invention is. We then have to have the invention understood by an examiner of the Patent Office. After a patent is granted, we start negotiations to enforce the patent, and in this process, we have to understand what the opposite party to the negotiations considers. If a lawsuit is filed, we cannot act properly without understanding what the opposite party considers. When we work with people abroad, we have to understand their way of thinking. Fully recognizing the differences between their cultures and ours, we have to make explanations on our IP practices and cultures in a way that they can fully understand them from their standpoints. Even in day-to-day activities, where we work with other colleagues, not on my own, we have to understand them, especially those who are downstream in the workflow. As illustrated in these cases, it is vital for us to understand those we are working with.

Challenge for positive information gap.

Clients do not expect us to work as their subcontractors. They expect us to serve them as professionals, providing them with something they do not have. This is why we have to make constant efforts to exceed even our imaginary highest-level clients in such aspects as the understanding of technology, the understanding of law, know-how concerning daily routine works, knowledge on foreign practices, connections with overseas associates, and experiences in lawsuits and licensing negotiations. If our clients believe our level is lower than theirs (negative information gap) in these aspects, we will be of no value as professionals.

Be proactive and sincere.

Make every proactive and sincere effort for the interests of clients. Be faithful to them, and work hard to do an excellent job for them to satisfy their expectations. Do our best to provide them with high quality and high-speed services.

Enjoy our job for better results.

Our workplace is our battlefield. Our job is hard. That is why we have to enjoy it. We have to work effectively with our colleagues, enlightening/stimulating each other and being enlightened/stimulated by each other, in order to provide clients with high quality, high-speed services. Professionals enjoy to afford to have reasonable redundancy or play in reserve. Fruitless labor without clear objective leads to waste only.

Keep us young.

Forget yesterday, and think about tomorrow. Not be satisfied with the status quo. Always think about some reform to change the existing situation. If you simply look back on the past and fail to look into the future, using the past as a springboard, TANI & ABE will not be able to stay young. Proactively challenge for the mutually better future.
